Little Baker

I bought the Christmas cookie kit from Trader Joe’s (who could resist when they reduced the price from $3.99 to just 99 cents!) and this morning Finn and I made some sugar cookies. Finn and I did all the mixing; Ezra came in and made a few cookies with the cookie cutters. Once we made the first two sets, I let Finn roll out the dough which he really liked. Here are a few pictures and a video.

Finn’s Snow Globe

Or, as it sounds when he says it, “dough gobe.” He made it at Cottage this week and it’s super cool. Moreover, he’s very proud of himself and couldn’t wait to show it off to Ezra, Papa and me.

I think he’s been watching Ezra bring home lots of things from Kindergarten so he’s very happy to have a project of his own.

And here’s a picture Jerri took on her work day this week. Even if he is doing his grumpy face, I think it’s pretty cute.

Oh, Finn

Finn’s gotten into the habit lately of sticking out his tongue or making some other face for most pictures. So, in an effort to capture an image of his regular face, I just called his name the other day at Amy’s Playground and snapped the picture when he turned around.

Happy Finn

Cute, huh?

Then he said, “Mommy, why did you call my name?” I told him I just wanted to take his picture, and he made this face.

Mad Finn

Grrrrr.

Spider-Man

Finn, as Batman, sings the Spider-Man theme song.

Finn & Charlie … A Bromance

Finn and Charlie have become quite fond of each other. Today at Cottage, they played together nearly the whole day. They got Iron Man armor from Teacher Art (yeah, it kind of looks like man-bags to me, too).

They did some serious sewing with the lacing cards.

They rode the skitters together.

They had snack together, too, but it was much too chaotic for me to take any pictures. I’m not sure they could be any cuter.

Ana’s Videos

Finn’s teacher Ana took a couple of videos on her iPhone this week. They’re pretty cute!

Finn’s Phone Call

Finn made a series of phone calls the other day during his play date with Charlie. Luckily, Jerri caught one of them on film.

Two Creations

Bruce pulled out the art box this morning for a glue/glitter/paint extravaganza and many projects were made and destroyed. My favorite was Ezra’s painting:

He said it was a blueprint, which he then described as a “picture of how to build a house.”

Later, Finn saw the box of magnetic gears in the closet and built this:

He managed to get all the gears connected and moving, and was very proud to have built it all by himself.

Oak

Finn’s in the Oak Tree class at Cottage this year and Thursday was my first day working in his class. It was a pretty nutty day — lots of sand and water play, and a ton of conflict resolution. My hat’s off to Teacher Ana and Teacher Art for keeping their cool amidst the craziness.

Here’s Finn telling one of his friends something very important.

And here’s a bunch of the very busy boys in the class. The girls, smartly, had made themselves scarce rather than get in the middle of this mess.

A Little Celebrity

I asked our friend Colleen to do a post for Finn’s preschool fundraiser on her super website Hometown Pasadena. She graciously obliged and every time I see it I smile, so I thought I’d post a link.

Update: I decided to include a screen shot because I’m sure the link won’t last forever.

Juggling

Finn wants to be a juggler. Here’s his first attempt.

Finn’s First Day of School …

… was thwarted by a super goopy nose. So we’re having Pajama Day instead. Not much cuter, I think, than a three-year-old in old man flannel button-up pajamas.

“Cab”

Bruce, Finn and I passed Cameron’s Seafood restaurant this morning after dropping Ezra off at Hamilton and Finn was intrigued by the giant crab (“cab”) on the side of the building.

The following conversation ensued.

Finn: Papa, do you see that cab?

Bruce: Yeah, that’s a restaurant where you can eat crab.

F: [pause] Real cab?

B: Yeah, real crab

F: [pause] Do they cook the cab?

B: Yes.

F: Do they take the pinchers off?

B: Yep.

F: Do they take the butt off?

B: [pause] Yeah …

F: I want to go there.

Batman’s Trusty Kick

Here’s Finn telling me a little bit about Robin. I love that his interpretation of “sidekick” is just “kick.”
