I was on campus on September 23rd to take some pictures of the first and second grade STEM challenge and got some shots of Finn’s class before the challenge started. The morning started with a group discussion of weekend activities.
Each student has the chance to talk when they are holding the green ball.
I’ve seen this a couple of times. Finn is very eager to have the ball, but then he just says, “I pass” and rolls the ball to someone else.
After circle time they had a “brain break” and walked around like Frankenstein for a while.
And then they started their engineering challenge. This week it was the Noodle Tower — build the highest tower possible using plastic cups, paper strips and cut up pool noodles.
I had to leave Finn’s classroom to visit and document another class so I don’t know how high they actually got their towers. But I do know that Finn loves these bi-weekly challenges!
