Surprise Going Away Party

On January 11th, Bruce and I were scheduled to go to our last Book Club. Or so I thought. Unbeknownst to me (but known by just about every person I see every day including Bruce!) Jerri had planned a surprise going away party for us. I really don’t have the slightest clue how they all pulled it off since I am really not an easy person to surprise, but they did. And we had a fabulous time.

Here are a few pictures that Jerri took since I was too busy either laughing or crying the entire night to think to take photos.

Really, the pièce de résistance of the night was the cake’s inscription. By Jerri, of course.

We tried to take a picture of us looking sad with the cake, but I could tell Jon was photo-bombing us in the background and I couldn’t stop laughing.

We really do have the BEST friends and we miss them all dearly.

Library Removal

In anticipation of our move, Bruce and I discussed at length whether we should leave our Little Free Library for the new owners or take it with us. In the end, I just couldn’t leave it behind. So, on January 5th we took it down and put up this sign.

Not surprisingly, we had lots of neighbors greet us with shocked looks after they saw the sign. No one — including us — expected we’d ever move.

Luckily for our neighborhood of voracious readers, there is another LFL right down the block. Here’s one last picture of our treasure in its original home.

We hope to install it soon in our new place.

Palm Springs in January

The boys and I started off the New Year with a brief trip to Jamma’s on January 2nd. We enjoyed the warm weather and clear skies, and of course, Jamma’s company. The boys mostly wanted to be in the pool.

I liked their different techniques for jumping in the pool — so indicative of their personalities.

Here’s a short video of how they spent much of their time at the pool.
